Schwartz, Longview, Texas Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, Marxists, Obama supporters, socialists, and all you Kool-aid drinkers: We have stuck together for over 230 years, but the actions of you liberals since the 2008 elections have made me realize that I want a divorce. The actions of Congress passing Obamacare simply broke the back of my tolerance with you people. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations. However, this relationship is now dysfunctional and has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what’s right for America. This message was on display on April 17 at the “Taxed Enough Already” Tea Party at the courthouse lawn. Since the conservatives already have a “WE THE PEOPLE” group and a “Tea Party” group, it’s only fair that the liberals start something similar for their viewpoints on how the government should be run. Leave a comment Last week Gallup reported that “Federal government debt” was the issue that most threatened the future well-being of the United States. Our nation’s record deficits are largely driven by the record spending increases of the last decade and the last year in particular. There is a way out of this deficit nightmare: stop spending. If the federal government managed to return to the per-household spending level of the Reagan administration, the budget would be balanced by 2012 without any tax hikes. Or just returning to the per-household spending levels that existed before the current recession would balance the budget by 2019. Leave a comment President Obama poses a real and present danger to the Second Amendment, and he’s working to pack the Supreme Court with justices who will undermine Americans’ gun rights. Mr. Obama didn’t fess up to this radical agenda when running for the highest office in the land. “I have said consistently that I believe that the Second Amendment is an individual right, and that was the essential decision that the Supreme Court came down on,” Mr. Obama told Fox News in June 2008. Despite the campaign rhetoric, Mr. Obama is appointing judges who strongly oppose that position. The most recent pick, Elena Kagan, ran much of President Clinton’s war on guns from 1995 to 1999. Leave a comment President Obama recently used the Gulf oil spill to stress the need for Congress to pass cap and trade, specifically the bill introduced by Senators John Kerry (D–MA) and Joe Lieberman (I–CT) after much delay. The 987-page American Power Act (APA) aims to reduce 2005 levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 80 percent by 2050, the same target that the House version passed last year. Rather than working through the democratic legislative process, this Administration has circumvented Congress to enact an ill-conceived education agenda that will weaken accountability, reduce transparency and minimize choice while only adding to the national deficit. Leave a comment The House financial regulation reform bill that recently passed the Senate would increase the budget deficits by $19.7 billion over the 2011-2020 period if enacted unchanged, according to a cost estimate released Wednesday by the Congressional Budget Office. The bill, passed May 20, has moved to a bicameral conference to be reconciled with the Senate version of the regulation bill. A May 3 estimate released by the non-partisan CBO predicted that the Senate bill would decrease the federal deficit by $19.5 billion over 2011-2020.
